Photobook Project Description: Our True Colors
This is a Photography Project assignment titled "Our True Colors." The project is a photo-story series about friendship, understanding, and the freedom to express oneself in a fresh urban and natural setting.
Theme & Core Message
- Theme: Friendship, connection, and the freedom to express one's "True Colors," overcoming social prejudices.
- Message: The quotes used in the photobook reinforce this message:
- "Life is too short to ignore love."
- "I’m not feminine. I’m not masculine. I’m a combination of both. There are many ways for you to shine."
- "The world has bigger problems than work. Boys kiss boys and girls kiss girls."
- Meaning: Through natural and intimate moments, the project honors diverse relationships and supports the right to live authentically and be loved freely.
Context and Visual Style
- Context: The photos were taken in modern public spaces combined with nature (green trees, lakes, pedestrian bridges, playgrounds, and impressive wood/stone architecture). This combination creates an interesting contrast between people, nature, and urban architecture.
- Style: The images follow a storytelling style, focusing on:
- Natural light and bright, clear colors.
- Real emotions and interaction between the two characters.
- Diverse layouts (panoramic, close-up, and creative angles like spiral staircases).
